SOFTUTOR¨ FOR AUTOCAD R14 3D¨

With the release of SofTutor for AutoCAD R14 3D, New Vision Software gives designers the training tool they need to take advantage of the advanced capabilities of AutoCAD R14. The new SofTutor product covers tools for applying surfaces, solid primitives and solid variables, Boolean operations, importing and exporting 3D files to various formats, rendering and lighting, and 3D labs for mechanical and architectural engineering (as well as all the standard features of AutoCAD R12 and R13), in a hands-on format that allows designers to learn by actually using the new features in their own models as SofTutor's instructor describes and demonstrates them. And with multi-user and LAN licensing options, companies can train engineers right at their workstations, and then follow up the training by providing SofTutor as an on-demand help system users can access without leaving the drawing they're working on.

"We've built in the conventional wildcards as well," says Hilgers, "so with one query--say, 'lighting'--a user can develop a definitive list of chapters, subchapters, and topics where lighting is mentioned." Users can also create bookmarks, and search histories that track all items the user has searched for and played.
Does SofTutor's approach to training work? Ask Mark Townsend of Purdue University. "I used to spend 40 hours training basic MicroStation and still could not show everything that SofTutor shows. Now the trainees spend 20 hours with SofTutor and I spend a total of 2 hours with them."
SofTutor for AutoCAD R14 3D requires a multimedia PC (486/33 or better) running Microsoft Windows 3.1or better, a 2x CD-ROM drive, Windows-compatible sound board, speakers or headphones, mouse, VGA color monitor, 8-bit VGA adaptor (256 colors), 16 MB of RAM, 7MB of hard disk space (minimum installation).
